04/11 Update - Careful Pruning

Praise God for the busy days of Spring!  Michelle and I laugh when we catch ourselves in the hubbub of life focusing on what’s here-and-now.  God is eternal and He patiently teaches us to wait for His timing and walk in His strength.  This past Sunday, our pastor compared God’s eternal perspective to the long-term mindset of a vineyard owner.  When planting new vines, they are pruned for years before they begin to produce a crop that is used to make wine.  He is preparing us to serve Him with our lives. As we come through challenges with health and finances, we are learning to seek His wisdom and depend on Him more.  Here are some verses that have been a blessing to us recently:

…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12: 1-3)

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener… every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John 15:1-8)

Thank you for joining us in praise and prayer for the following:

Praise:
  • Michelle and I celebrated 14 years of marriage!
  • Matthew and Zack earned enough money to pay for Boy Scout Camp this Summer.
  • The recent hail storms just missed us!

Prayer Requests:
  • Loren’s father fell and broke both bones in his right leg.  Pray for recovery and healing.
  • We are trying to sell our camper to prepare for moving to JAARS.
  • For people to respond to God’s prompting to partner with us financially so we can start our assignments at JAARS.
